“I enjoyed my 3 nights at Elegant House. The bed was so comfortable and I had a room with an external bathroom and the shower was great. If you want 5 star perfection then this may not be for you. I was happy to sleep so well in this quiet part of Liverpool. Breakfasts were interesting and different, multicultural you could say. John provides a quirky little tour of the neighbourhood, Les Trios Ringos…and plenty of interesting and informative local information. Free parking is another plus with the city centre only a 5 minute taxi ride away. A TV in the room would be a welcome addition and perhaps an extension to be able to use the kettle easier. All in all I was very comfortable and it was a nice touch to have bathrobes and slippers provided.”

“Stayed there last Saturday night. Situated in a lovely old house on a nice street, the rooms are large,hiigh-ceilinged, warm, bright clean and pleasantly eclectically furnished with very comfortable beds.. The modern bathroom, although not ensuite , was next door and freshly laundered robes, towels, slippers etc are all provided. The kitchen and TV lounge are again very stylish. The breakfast was not a traditional fry-up or continental, but almost a world breakfast with cereals inc muesli, juice, jamon serrano, blood orange segnments, Turkish Yoghurt, jams, marmalades, eggs, pears poached in red wine cinammon and cloves, longans, smoked salmon, nuts inc pistachios, tea, coffee, lovely bread toated if required, lemons , and I think I’ve forgotten some. Left you feeling nicely full but not bloated. My daughter, at Uni here, was also able to join me for breakfast for a reasonable fee”.

“The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. John was a fantastic friendly host who provided us with a delicious breakfast that was far above the average run of the mill fry up you get with most B&B’s. Lychees and smoked salmon , what a treat ! Definitely recommended”. June 2014

“Just stayed here for a night with my boyfriend to go to a gig at the Philharmonic and for general sightseeing. The owner could not be more helpful, with loads of knowledge about interesting things to see nearby. The room was huge and the whole guesthouse was quirky and different, in a good way. Breakfast was good with a limitless supply! Good location too, a 2 minute drive from the centre and bus stops round the corner. Would definitely stay here again.” Stayed May 2013.

”Nada. Es un sitio perfecto. Nothing. It is a perfect place to stay.” Stayed May 2013.

“This is well-named as Elegant House: the building and decor are sympathetic, the food is very well prepared and elegantly served. John was courteous and welcoming. The house is situated in a very quiet area which is still pretty close to interesting parts of Liverpool.” Stayed April 2013.

“I went to the Elegant house for one night with my parents, we had a nice welcome. The rooms are nicely decorated where we can take a cup of tea. When we came there, my bathroom was being built, but it will be nice. I did be able to use the shower.
The breakfast was ABSOLUTELY great! We had tea or coffe, good toast (with bread from a good baker), cottage cheese with muesli, prune. Then we ate serrano ham, slices of salmon and cheese, poached pear and a traditional cake.”
Room Tip: All the floors are nice! (I was on the fisrt floor and my parents on the ground floor).” April 2013, travelled with family.

“Really nice clean place. Comfortable stay, very inviting and friendly. So helpful aswel. Actually left my phone there and the owner John was a complete legend and posted it back to my address in Essex. A lot of people wouldn’t have done the same so very nice helpful staff. Offers a lovely breakfast and had a really good comfortable stay. Just a few minutes in a cab to the city centre. All in all very happy and a real value for money aswel. Recommend it”  March 2013.

“I am highly recommending Elegant House in Liverpool. It is beautifully furnished, the rooms are clean and bright and John, the owner makes you feel at home the moment you step through the door. The breakfast was delicious with fresh local bread and honey – refreshingly different to the boring fried breakfasts you get in so many B&Bs! We got lots of great tips about Liverpool from John too. If I went to Liverpool again I would definitely stay in the Elegant House again.” Stayed March 2013, travelled with friends.

“We stayed for two nights last weekend and had a lovely stay despite the freezing cold weather outside. John is a very accomodating host who went out of his way to make us feel at home, from providing hand-drawn maps of the local area to going out to buy us the morning papers to accompany the delicious breakfast. The hotel is in a peaceful location, about a 15 minute walk to the edge of the city centre which was great for us, the city centre is compact and taxis back at night are so cheap that we had no problem getting around.” Stayed March 2013, travelled as a couple.

“An excellent host who gives a lovely perspective on Liverpool. Ask for the wet muesli: it is soaked overnight in yogurt. Location is quiet and close to city centre. The sun shone! We had a great time in Liverpool and this base was perfect.”  March 2013.

“Great, Elegant House, stay. This is the best place to stay in Liverpool for comfort, convenience, and economy. The accommodations are clean and spacious in this stately house amidst it’s row of fine Victorian homes. The house is efficiently set up for the needs of the short stay or the long family holiday. We liked and made full use of the upto-date modern kitchen and bathrooms facilities. Our four nights staying there (three of us)were very pleasant and comfortable. The surrounding environs; a beautiful park across the road with quite pastural fields and enchanting lake, (along with tennis courts), allowed us lovely morning and evening strolls. And, getting to the main sites and activities in the heart of Liverpool was minutes away. We’re coming back!” December 2012.

“Beautiful room with stunning light, great breakfast in spacious house with small garden in the back situated in a peaceful area yet near to centre. John is an amazing host that makes it all more than recommended for anyone seeking to spend a week end in Liverpool and get a hand-drawn map of the area!” November 2012.

“I worked in Liverpool for 2 months last summer. I couldn’t expect I would receive so much good attention from the landlords. Before I arrived to England, John gave me the best way to get to his house, and after that he explained me how to move around the city.

The house is beautiful and very big, next to a park and near to Tesco. Also you can go walking to the center (20 min. aprox.). When I was there, the flatmates were very kind. I think it’s one of the best experiences I had in Liverpool: you can meet people from other countries in the same house you are staying, and learn a lot of them.

I would really recommend this house to stay. And the cat is very friendly!”  Stayed July 2012, travelled on business. Reviewed November 2012 .

“Highly recommended and quite comfortable. A stunning morning light in the room and breakfast in a kitchen that opens into a lovely back garden. John is a great host, sharing history, bread, Muesli and jam.” October 2012.

“We stayed a night here (2 kids, 2 adults); the room was enormous, bright and quite lovely (with a massive wall of window overlooking the back garden). We were made very comfortable by John who showed us around, settled us in and gave us a good history of the house and the area (we were new to Liverpool). We had no trouble parking, and most impressively, John was really fabulous when we had to inform him that we had been delayed (by 3 hours!) on our way from Cornwall. Clean sheets, comfy mattress, smart furniture and the bathroom was directly outside our door with a good shower.”Room Tip: “Ask for the massive one overlooking the back garden if you want super high ceilings and lovely light.”  Stayed September 2012, travelled with family.

Stayed August 2012, travelled on business.
